Canadians Abroad of Southern California (www.canadiansabroad.com), with support from the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles, will present the largest star-studded Canada Day celebration to commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday. Canadians Abroad and Angelenos who are Canadian at heart are invited to take part in the festivities at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood at 7:00 p.m. on July 1st.
“Canada’s 150th anniversary is a moment to celebrate Canada’s values and accomplishments — and I’m proud to be part of that celebration in Los Angeles, where we have one of the largest Canadian diasporas in the world, and one that has had enormous influence here in business, entertainment, academia and working with local leaders in the fight against climate change,” comments Consul General of Canada, James Villeneuve.
The event will feature live performances by The Godfather of Canadian Hip-Hop, Maestro Fresh Wes, as well as Flo Soul, crowned with the Urban Album of the Year at the 2012 Western Canadian Music Awards. Canada’s Queen of Comedy Carla Collins will host the ceremonies that will also feature a DJ spinning Canada’s hottest hits. The show-stopping event will offer a rare opportunity to see such high-profile Canadian talent performing in one location in Los Angeles on Canada’s big day.
“This is personally my third year involved hosting Canada Day festivities in LA. It is an opportunity to celebrate all the amazing, uniquely Canadian traits we bring to the LA community. To see over 500 people revel in their Canadian-ness is something incredible and one that I and all of our board members look forward to every year. What’s more beautiful than creating a piece of Canada in the heart of Hollywood,“ says Co-President Zoe Kevork.
“Canadians Abroad is thrilled to host our annual Canada Day party in LA. We represent a very strong and deeply rooted Canadian community in Southern California and this year is an incredible opportunity for us to come together like never before and celebrate who we are at such a seminal moment in our rich history,” adds Co-President Erin Buckley Burnett.
There will be a star-studded, red carpet where celebrities, VIPs and guests can pose for the camera with a genuine Mountie in iconic red dress uniform, and participate in interviews with press and an on-camera red carpet host.
Guests will enjoy Canadian-themed food and drink, including all-night happy hour specials. Sponsors include the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles and Gold Sponsor Air Canada. Tickets are available exclusively at www.canadiansabroad.com
